abstract = "The hydrographic basin comprises a territorial extension which has
a water flow capturing and directing dynamics through the
topographic dividers, performing a movement of convergence to the
main channel. As a biogeographic unit, where natural resources and
biodiversity are integrated, an action taken at the upstream
effects downstream. The Northwest Paran{\'a} State region is in
the interfluves between the hydrographic regions of Paran{\'a} 2,
Piquiri and Paran{\'a} 3, and presents intensive or mechanized
agricultural production and cattle raising. The region of
Alt{\^o}nia is located in the limits ofIlha Grande National Park
and Environmental Protection Area, where there is the
Ribeir{\~a}o do Prado Hydrographic Basin. The objective was to
use geotechnology to map the Ribeir{\~a}o do Prado Basin to
characterize the use and occupation of land through MDE SRTM,
Landsat 7 satellite imagery and RapidEye, as well as the
complement of Google Earth. The main uses of land in this basin
are related to agriculture, reforestation, roads, sewage treatment
plant, urban area, and permanent preservation area. The need was
identified to restore an area of 0.36 kmē corresponding to the
permanent protection of the water courses according to the
proposed in the forestry code, aiming at adequacy for the water
                         resources preservation.",
